ㄴ Batchim — the [n] Sound

The ㄴ batchim is almost identical to the English n, making it the easiest batchim for learners. The tip of your tongue touches the upper gum while air flows through the nose.

[n]

Final ㄴ becomes [n]

How to Pronounce

Same as the n in "sun". Touch the tip of your tongue to your upper gum and finish through the nose.

Common Mistake

When ㄴ meets ㄹ, it changes to [l] (lateralization): 연락 is pronounced [yeollak]. This change is covered in detail in the Pronunciation Rules unit.
