Hangul in the Digital Age

The script loved by keyboards and AI

Hangul shines even brighter in the digital age. Let's find out why.

Efficient Keyboard Input

The Hangul keyboard uses the left hand for consonants and the right hand for vowels. This separated structure allows both hands to alternate typing, enabling very fast input.

Skilled typists can record over 600 characters per minute. This is comparable to English typing speeds.

Strengths in the Smartphone Era

Various Hangul input methods like Cheonjiin, Naratgeul, and Danmoeum have been developed. The Cheonjiin keyboard, in particular, allows all Hangul to be typed with just 12 buttons, gaining popularity since the feature phone era.

Unicode and Hangul

Hangul supports all 11,172 complete syllable blocks in Unicode. All theoretically possible syllables can be expressed through combinations of initial, medial, and final sounds.

AI and Hangul

Hangul's regular structure is also advantageous for AI learning. In natural language processing (NLP), phoneme-level analysis of Hangul is being utilized in various applications.
