같이[가치]
Palatalization
A ㄷ or ㅌ batchim followed by 이 or 히 turns into ㅈ or ㅊ. That is why 같이 (together) is pronounced [가치].
Pattern
받침 ㄷ + 이 → [지], 받침 ㅌ + 이 → [치], ㄷ + 히 → [치]
How It Works
The tongue-tip sounds ㄷ and ㅌ shift toward the palate to meet the vowel 이, becoming the nearby ㅈ and ㅊ. It happens only when the particle or suffix 이 / 히 attaches.
Transformation Examples
See — and hear — how the spelling turns into its actual pronunciation.

굳이
[구지]
guji

해돋이
[해도지]

Exceptions & Notes
It never happens inside a single morpheme. In words like 잔디 (grass) or 느티나무 (zelkova), where ㄷ/ㅌ and 이 belong to one unit, they stay [잔디], [느티나무].
