닭[닥]
Double Batchim Pronunciation
Each of the 11 double batchim pronounces only one of its two consonants. 닭 is [닥], 삶 is [삼] — a rule decides which sound survives.
Pattern
겹받침 → 규칙에 따라 한 자음만 (모음 앞에서는 둘 다)
How It Works
ㄳ, ㄵ, ㄼ, ㄽ, ㄾ, ㅄ keep the first consonant; ㄺ, ㄻ, ㄿ keep the second. But before a vowel, both survive and the second carries over to the next syllable.
Transformation Examples
See — and hear — how the spelling turns into its actual pronunciation.

Exceptions & Notes
밟다 is an exception — its ㄼ is [p], giving [밥따]. The ㄺ of 읽다 is usually [익따], but before a ㄱ ending like 읽고 it becomes [일꼬]. The full chart lives on the dedicated double-batchim page.
